5/20:The Kansas City Royals have had him bat leadoff for the last 11 games, but shortstop Alcides Escobar is trying his best to get them to stop doing it. Escobar has batted just .167 with an on-base percentage of .180 during that time, and he's gotten one hit and one walk in his last 18 at-bats. These numbers are actually only slightly below his season numbers of a .178 batting average and .208 on-base percentage. He also has attempted zero steals this season, though with how rarely he's been on base, that's not terribly surprising. Escobar's job should be safe for now, but he's in the last year of his contract and could eventually be replaced this season by a prospect if the Royals continue to play poorly.--Billy Stonick - RotoBaller
