Adrian Peterson 2018 Player Outlook: Veteran Gets Another Chance With Washington
6 years agoAfter starting training camp without a job, veteran running back Adrian Peterson was finally signed on August 20 after Washington lost rookie running back Derrius Guice to a torn ACL. The future Hall of Famer will join his fourth NFL team, and his third in the past two seasons, after spending the majority of his storied career with the Minnesota Vikings. While Peterson is a big name, his role in the Washington backfield is unclear at this point. With Chris Thompson locked into the pass-catching role, Peterson will compete with Rob Kelley and Samaje Perine for the early-down role. Peterson turned in a few big games with the Arizona Cardinals in 2017 but he also averaged just 3.4 yards per carry, the lowest mark of his career when he played in more than three games. The 33-year-old could be worth a speculative pick at the end of fantasy drafts but don't hesitate to move on if he isn't able to outplay Kelley or Perine.
