8/12:The New York Yankees were six outs away from going five and a half games out of first place in the AL East tonight when Aaron Hicks stepped up to the plate. The club was once again struggling to get any offensive traction going, trailing 3-0 in the eighth. Hicks, however, brought them back to life with a towering home run to right field that just managed to stay fair. It was a two-run shot, cutting the deficit to one run and igniting what would be a five-run inning. Hicks wasn’t done playing hero, as his throw to third base in the top of the ninth gunned down Eduardo Nuñez, dealing a decisive blow to Boston’s comeback bid. Should the Yankees go on to make a deep postseason run, or win the division, this performance from Hicks could be seen as the turning point.--Ricky Delgado - RotoBaller
