7/17:The Philadelphia Phillies’ worst fears have been realized, as outfielder Aaron Altherr is headed for the disabled list. The 26-year-old strained his right hamstring running the bases last week and has not improved significantly enough to remain on the active roster. Altherr has arguably been Philadelphia’s best hitter this year, hitting .284 with 14 home runs and 44 RBI through 79 games. With his move to the disabled list, the club is likely to replace him today with infielder Cesar Hernandez, who’s wrapped up his rehab assignment with the High-A Clearwater Threshers. The 27-year-old was hitting .277 at the time of his oblique strain last month, being one of the club’s best hitters alongside Altherr.--Ricky Delgado - RotoBaller
