A.J. Green 2022 Player Outlook: A Solid Veteran Option Being Ignored in Drafts
3 years agoA.J. Green's first season with the Cardinals was relatively unremarkable, but the important thing was he was able to stay healthy. Green caught 54 of 92 targets for 848 yards and three touchdowns, finishing with 9.8 fantasy points per game. Green chose to return to the Cardinals this offseason and will have a chance to emerge as a solid target funnel during the first six weeks of the season with DeAndre Hopkins out due to a suspension. In six games without Hopkins last season, Green had 38 targets, 17 receptions, and 276 yards (two of those games were without Kyler Murray). Green is currently being drafted as WR93 in the 22nd round of fantasy drafts. At the very least, the veteran receiver will have six weeks at the start of the season where he could provide solid production. If Green can replicate last year's fantasy production, then he will provide a solid weekly floor that could have boom weeks based on targets and matchups. Green still has some life left in him and shouldn't be going off the board with the other late-round dart throws.
