Tyler Allgeier 2023 NFL Player Outlook: Promising Sophomore Campaign Relegated To Handcuff Duties
1 year agoSecond-year running back for the Atlanta Falcons, Tyler Allgeier, has been relegated from fantasy starter to a mere handcuff in the wake of Bijan Robinson being drafted 8th overall in the 2023 NFL Draft. Allgeier looked like he could be a viable RB2 for 2023 After he finished last season with 1,035 rush yards. He was given the reigns of the Atlanta Backfield in Week 11, and from that point on he had 50 yards or more in every game, including two 130+ yard performances, and he averaged 5.6 yards per carry over that span. Unfortunately, nothing is going to keep Bijan Robinson off of the field. Robinson is an elite NFL prospect only seen in the likes of Adrian Peterson and Saquon Barkley, and he is going to command 20+ touches per game as a floor. That leaves only the scraps to be picked up by Allgeier. Depriving him of any fantasy relevance whatsoever as long as Robinson is healthy. That being said, Allgeier is one of the better handcuffs in the league now, and anyone who spends a first-round pick on Robinson would be wise to insure him with Allgeier. After all, the Falcons were one of the most run-heavy offenses last season and head coach Arthur Smith would love to replicate that success on the ground.
