Drew Lock 2021 Outlook: Lock Backing Up Teddy Bridgewater
3 years agoDrew Lock will back up Teddy Bridgewater for the Denver Broncos to start the season. Lock did few favors for himself during the game against Seattle. He went just 9 of 14 for 80 yards. The quarterback just could not move the offense like Teddy Bridgewater. After that game, Head Coach Vic Fangio decided to announce that Bridgewater would be the starter and Lock would be the backup. Bridgewater managed the offense better in the preseason and was not as much of a turnover risk. Lock will watch from the sidelines and learn from a player like Bridgewater. Lock expects to drop from his QB32-QB34 range for 2021 because of the decreased amount of starts. Lock's turnover-worthy rate ranked 33rd in 2020. Therein lies the problem with Lock. Denver has some nice offensive potential too but for Lock, it comes down to consistency. He cannot keep making mistakes and repetitive ones at that. In fantasy points per game, Lock ranked as a QB26 in 2020. Denver as well as fantasy owners expect more from a starting quarterback. Lock makes for decent insurance out there should Bridgewater get hurt. Again, Denver has the fifth-easiest schedule in all of football. If Lock can cut down on the mistakes, maybe Denver's faith in him (not being traded) will pay off.
