BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues

OWNED IN: 33% of Yahoo Leagues

ANALYSIS: Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher Patrick Corbin has back-to-back scoreless appearances and his 3.70 ERA in four August starts is attractive to fantasy owners. While Corbin opened the month by allowing 14 runs (10 earned) in his first two starts, he has 15 1/3 scoreless innings over his last two starts, striking out 15 batters and walking just two. He has won four of his last six starts, allowing three earned runs or less in nine of his last 10 starts, and has seen his seasonal ERA dip from 4.76 to 4.25 over the last 10 starts. Corbin has seen his ground ball rate dip from 53.8% in 2016 to 49.8% this season, but hit hard-hit ball rate is down from 38.5% in 2016 to 32.4% this season. His K-BB% is 15.4%, the second-best of his career, and his 75.4% contact rate is the best of his five year career.

Corbin will start against the Mets at Citi Field on August 23, but he is only 3-8 with a 5.89 ERA on the road this season, odd considering the hitter's haven that is Arizona's Chase Field. Sixteen of his 22 home runs allowed this season have been on the road and he allowed four runs on nine hits in six innings against the Mets on May 17 at home. Corbin may not be the best pitcher to start on Wednesday, but his strong run of play makes him a nice speculate add for the future.
