NBA Rookie Fantasy Profile: Markelle Fultz

Analysis: Fultz was the favorite to be the first overall selection on draft night for quite a while before he even announced he was entering the draft. The Philadelphia 76ers needed a point guard worse than anyone in the draft, and Fultz was widely seen as the top prospect. It was a match made in Heaven.

Fultz only played one season at Washington, failing to make the NCAA Tournament. It was not his fault, though, as he averaged 23.2 points, 5.7 rebounds, 5.9 assists, 1.6 steals, and 1.2 blocks in 35.7 minutes per game. He was an efficient scorer, shooting 50.2% from two-point range and 41.3% from three-point range. He struggled a bit at the free throw line, though, taking advantage of only 64.9% of his free throw attempts last season. He's a player that can be seen as the complete package coming into the NBA.

The only real knock on Fultz is that he is not a winner coming into the NBA. It was the same knock that was on Ben Simmons. That does not matter in terms of fantasy, though, as fantasy players do not receive bonuses if their players win games. Fultz should see upwards of 30 minutes per game as a rookie, but even though he is playing point guard, he is not expected to handle the ball.

Bottom Line: Fultz will be valuable because of his ability to contribute in each of the five categories. He also shoots for a fairly high percentage, aside from free throws. Philadelphia has multiple ball dominant players on their roster, though, so expectations should be drawn down a bit with Ben Simmons expected to handle the ball in Philly this season.
