Recent Update

4/27:Kurt Suzuki has been less than stellar through the Twins’ first 21 games, but his numbers blow those of fellow catcher John Ryan Murphy out of the water. Suzuki is slashing .209/.255/.326 in 43 AB, but has gone 7-for-20 over his last six games. He also has knocked in five runs and scored three more. Murphy, on the other hand, has just three hits in 32 AB, bringing his slash line to a despicable .094/.121/.125 with no runs knocked in or scored. Murphy was brought in this offseason to boost offensive production at the catcher spot, but he has done no such thing. Suzuki is clearly the better defender, so it would behoove the Twins to start him just about every day, at least until Murphy proves he can hit Major League pitching consistently.--Harris Yudin - RotoBaller
