The World Series gets underway Friday with Game 1 between the Dodgers and Yankees taking place in Los Angeles. This game also provides us with an opportunity to play single-game contests on DraftKings and FanDuel.
This article will provide my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on 10/25/2024, with the slate beginning at 8:08 p.m. EDT. The lineup picks will range from some elite players to mid-priced options and value plays. You can also read more DFS advice and lineup picks for other sports here. Pitchers - MLB DFS Showdown Picks
You can't roster pitchers on FanDuel, just five hitters. But both starting pitchers are in the player pool on DraftKings.
Gerrit Cole at LAD ($12,000 DK; $18,000 DK CPT, NA FD)
The Yankees start things off with their ace on the mound. Cole performed well in the ALDS against the Royals, allowing five runs (four earned) over 12 innings. He only made it through 4.1 innings in his ALCS start against the Guardians, but he at least limited them to two runs.
While the Yankees have shown a quick hook with their starters during the playoffs, they would likely love for their ace to give them at least five innings.

Jack Flaherty vs. NYY ($11,400 DK; $17,100 DK CPT, NA FD)
Flaherty had two very different stat lines in the NLCS against the Mets. In Game 1, he had six strikeouts over seven scoreless innings. In Game 5, he allowed eight runs and didn’t record a single strikeout over three innings.
A big concern in that game was that he walked four batters. The Yankees have some of the more selective hitters in the league in their lineup, so Flaherty will need to make sure he limits the number of free passes that he allows.

Shohei Ohtani – OF, LAD vs. Gerrit Cole ($10,000 DK; $15,000 DK CPT, $9,500 FD)
Fading Ohtani for a single-game contest can be hazardous for your health. He dominated the NLCS, hitting 8-for-22 (.364) with two home runs and nine walks. During the regular season, he had a .453 wOBA and a .348 ISO at home. He’s someone to consider building your entire entry around.
Juan Soto – OF, NYY vs. Jack Flaherty ($9,200 DK; $13,800 DK CPT, $8,500 FD)
Soto hit three home runs against the Guardians in the ALCS, one of which came in extra innings in Game 5 that propelled the Yankees to the World Series.
He enters the World Series with a 1.106 OPS during the Yankees' playoff run and continues to benefit from the protection that he has in the lineup behind him in Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton. His floor is among the highest in this game.

Gleyber Torres – 2B, NYY vs. Jack Flaherty ($6,800 DK; $10,200 DK CPT, $7,000 FD)
The Yankees moving Torres back into the leadoff spot has proven to be a wise decision. He closed out the regular season with a .861 OPS over his last 35 games. In the playoffs, he has produced a .832 OPS and has scored nine runs over nine games.
With Soto, Judge, and Stanton behind him, he should continue to have plenty of opportunities to score runs if he can maintain his playoff OBP of .400.

Anthony Volpe – SS, NYY vs. Jack Flaherty ($5,800 DK; $8,700 DK CPT, $6,500 FD)
Volpe disappointed during the regular season with a .121 ISO and a .297 wOBA. He’s not hitting for power in the playoffs, but he does have a .374 wOBA.
He has been more selective at the plate, drawing eight walks and striking out just six times. At such cheap salaries on both sites, it won’t take much for him to be able to provide value if he continues to show improved command of the strike zone.
