MLB Daily Fantasy Baseball Patrol: Pitchers for FanDuel, DraftKings (5/7/16)

Welcome to the weekend. Today we have another full slate with early-only and main slate contests to join. The top of the pitching carousal isn't deep after Clayton Kershaw, Chris Sale, and David Price. But don't worry, there's plenty of value to be found.

In this article, I’ll be providing you with the top starting pitcher streamers for daily fantasy baseball (DFS) and for seasonal leagues for 5/7/16. These streamers will range from high-priced / high-ownership options to low-priced / low-ownership options, and will be sleepers and value picks for your cash games and GPPs on DraftKings and FanDuel, and also for seasonal leagues with daily lineups.

There'll be three main sections of this article: our Pitcher Matchups Tool’s top plays, my value plays, and pitchers to fade. I highly recommend you check out the Daily Pitcher Matchups Ratings tool - it's an extremely useful tool for daily fantasy or seasonal streaming for finding the diamonds in the rough. Anyways, let's get cracking!

Daily Pitcher Matchup Ratings Tool Top Plays

Chris Sale (SP, CWS) vs Twins

FanDuel - $12,000 / DraftKings - $12,900

Sale had a 10.6 K/9 at home last year while the Twins have struck out 22.8% of the time versus lefties in 2016, third worst in baseball. This is an obvious play that will come with high ownership.

Brandon Finnegan (SP, CIN) vs Brewers

FanDuel - $5,900 / DraftKings - $6,300

Finnegan has been impressive for the Reds, regardless of the modest statistics. His walks are his main crutch, but the Brewers only walk 6.2% of the time versus lefties, third worst in baseball. I like this spot for Finnegan in tourneys as a low-cost play.

Max’s Value Plays of the Day

Jeff Locke (SP, PIT) at Cardinals

FanDuel - $6,300 / DraftKings - $5,800

Aside from an eight-run outburst, Locke has been solid in 2016. The Cardinals are only hitting .235 as a team versus lefties.

Tom Koehler (SP, MIA) vs Phillies

FanDuel - $6,200 / DraftKings - $6,800

Koehler has been much more efficient at home (3.58 ERA) than on the road (4.58 ERA) since 2013. Should be low ownership, making him a good tourney play.

Jesse Hahn (SP, OAK) at Orioles

FanDuel - $7,900 / DraftKings - $7,200

Love me some Hahn. After starting the year in the minors Hahn has rejoined the A's and delivered in his first outing (6.2 IP, 0 ER, 4 K). Don't be intimated by the draw either. The Orioles have scored just five runs in their past three games.

Starting Pitchers to Fade in Daily Fantasy Baseball

Ervin Santana (SP, MIN) at White Sox

FanDuel - $6,900 / DraftKings - $7,600

Tough spot here versus Sale and while the 3.14 ERA is nice, the 1.40 WHIP implies Santana hasn't been effective.

Jered Weaver (SP, LAA) vs Rays

FanDuel - $7,000 / DraftKings - $6,900

Anytime you can grab a pitcher throwing under 90 MPH, you have to. Right? (crickets).
