MLB Daily Fantasy Baseball Patrol: Pitchers for FanDuel, DraftKings (5/4/16)

Welcome back DFS lovers. Today we have a full slate, including a seven-game early slate. That means lineups will be up early and you'll need to be on your game. Let me help you get there.

In this article, I’ll be providing you with the top starting pitcher streamers for daily fantasy baseball (DFS) and for seasonal leagues for 5/4/16. These streamers will range from high-priced / high-ownership options to low-priced / low-ownership options, and will be sleepers and value picks for your cash games and GPPs on DraftKings and FanDuel, and also for seasonal leagues with daily lineups.

There'll be three main sections of this article: our Pitcher Matchups Tool’s top plays, my value plays, and pitchers to fade. I highly recommend you check out the Daily Pitcher Matchups Ratings tool - it's an extremely useful tool for daily fantasy or seasonal streaming for finding the diamonds in the rough. Anyways, let's get cracking!

Daily Pitcher Matchup Ratings Tool Top Plays

Jose Fernandez (SP, MIA) vs Diamondbacks

FanDuel - $10,800 / DraftKings - $11,200

Fernandez has been up to his old tricks in 2016, compiling a 15.8 K/9 through five starts. If he can limit the rough first innings (9.00 ERA), he should cruise in this matchup.

Jon Lester (SP, CHC) at Pirates

FanDuel - $10,900 / DraftKings - $10,400

Lester has been fantastic to this point, posting a 1.83 ERA through five starts (all QS). He has a 1.86 ERA in four starts versus the Pirates.

Max’s Value Plays of the Day

Steven Matz (SP, NYM) vs Braves

FanDuel - $9,000 / DraftKings - $9,200

The Braves are starting to wake up at the plate.. which means three runs instead of one. The Braves have struck out 22.1% of the time versus lefties (fourth worst in MLB) and struck out eight times the last time they faced Matz. After the Braves took Game 1, I love the Mets here.

Juan Nicasio (SP, PIT) vs Cubs

FanDuel - $8,000 / DraftKings - $6,300

Did someone fall asleep at DraftKings? Even with the tough draw versus Lester, Nicasio provides a 9.67 K/9 and is fresh off seven shutout innings with eight strikeouts. Look for this to be a pitchers duel.

Rubby De La Rosa (SP, ARI) at Marlins

FanDuel - $7,500 / DraftKings - $7,700

This is if you need a pitcher not shown in the early slate. De La Rosa has allowed one run in his last two starts with a 16/3 K/BB ratio. The Marlins .600 OPS versus righties is the worst in baseball. Factor in a JoFer matchup and you have a low ownership tourney play.

Starting Pitchers to Fade in Daily Fantasy Baseball

Aaron Sanchez (SP, TOR) vs Rangers

FanDuel - $7,100 / DraftKings - $6,400

At these prices, I can't blame you for playing Sanchez. Sanchez just shut out the Rays for seven innings with six strikeouts. But the Rangers strike out just 17.2% of the time versus righties, third best in baseball. Throw in Sanchez's high ownership and this is a solid fade.

Alex Wood (SP, LAD) at Rays

FanDuel - $8,000 / DraftKings - $6,700

If you want to play with fire after Wood came out dealing last time out, be my guest. The Rays bash lefties (.272 AVG vs LHP is best in baseball) and Wood is too inconsistent location-wise to be trusted. Easy fade.
