MLB Daily Fantasy Baseball Patrol: Pitchers for FanDuel, DraftKings (5/18/16)

Welcome to another wild Wednesday of DFS!

In this article, I’ll be providing you with the top starting pitcher streamers for daily fantasy baseball (DFS) and for seasonal leagues for 5/18/16. These streamers will range from high-priced / high-ownership options to low-priced / low-ownership options, and will be sleepers and value picks for your cash games and GPPs on DraftKings and FanDuel, and also for seasonal leagues with daily lineups.

There'll be three main sections of this article: our Pitcher Matchups Tool’s top plays, my value plays, and pitchers to fade. I highly recommend you check out the Daily Pitcher Matchups Ratings tool - it's an extremely useful tool for daily fantasy or seasonal streaming for finding the diamonds in the rough. Anyways, let's get cracking!

Daily Pitcher Matchup Ratings Tool Top Plays

Francisco Liriano (SP, PIT) vs Braves

FanDuel - $7,000 / DraftKings - $5,800

While Liriano has been mediocre lately, facing the Braves is too good to pass up. The Braves strike out 22.1% of the time versus LHP, fourth-worst in baseball. Ownership will be high, but he should bounce back here.

Rich Hill (SP, OAK) vs Twins

FanDuel - $10,100 / DraftKings - $10,300

Hill has been nothing short of fantastic for the Athletics, but this is a tough spot him. The Rangers have been a top-five offense versus lefties and have struck out the third-fewest among teams versus LHP. Look elsewhere today.

Max’s Value Plays of the Day

Justin Verlander (SP, DET) vs Twins

FanDuel - $8,300 / DraftKings - $8,200

The Twins are heating up and Verlander has been cooling down, making this is a nice tourney play. The Twins .237 AVG vs LHP and 22.4% strikeout percentage vs RHP are second and third-worst in baseball, respectively.

Jeremy Hellickson (SP, PHI) vs Marlins

FanDuel - $6,000 / DraftKings - $6,800

HellBoy hasn't been effective but the Marlins .600 OPS versus RHP is the worst in baseball. It's a tourney play for those looking to stack offense.

Starting Pitchers to Fade in Daily Fantasy Baseball

Steven Wright (SP, BOS) at Royals

FanDuel - $8,500 / DraftKings - $10,900

Wright has been arguably the best pitcher in the Red Sox rotation (sorry, David Price) but the Royals are one of the best offenses versus knuckleballers, including dismantling R.A. Dickey in last year's playoffs. Wright isn't worth the price tag.

Jake Odorizzi (SP, TB) at Blue Jays

FanDuel - $7,500 / DraftKings - $5,700

The Blue Jays have the second-most home runs versus RHP and Odorizzi's opponent R.A. Dickey is on a bit of a hot streak. No reason to gamble on a game in Rogers Centre.
