MLB Daily Fantasy Baseball Patrol: Pitchers for FanDuel, DraftKings (5/16/16)

Welcome to week seven of the baseball season. We've got nine games on tap for Monday with first pitch at 6:10 ET. FanDuel doesn't include the 6:10 start between the Reds and Indians in its main slate, but we weren't using John Lamb or Chase Anderson anyways. Only one pitcher is above $10K (Jordan Zimmermann) on FanDuel and four on DraftKings (Zimmermann, J.A. Happ, Drew Smyly, Rick Porcello), which means it's a value slate on tap.

In this article, I’ll be providing you with the top starting pitcher streamers for daily fantasy baseball (DFS) and for seasonal leagues for 5/16/16. These streamers will range from high-priced / high-ownership options to low-priced / low-ownership options, and will be sleepers and value picks for your cash games and GPPs on DraftKings and FanDuel, and also for seasonal leagues with daily lineups.

There'll be three main sections of this article: our Pitcher Matchups Tool’s top plays, my value plays, and pitchers to fade. I highly recommend you check out the Daily Pitcher Matchups Ratings tool - it's an extremely useful tool for daily fantasy or seasonal streaming for finding the diamonds in the rough. Anyways, let's get cracking!

Daily Pitcher Matchup Ratings Tool Top Plays

Jonathan Niese (SP, PIT) vs Braves

FanDuel - $7,000 / DraftKings - $5,800

Niese has been pretty awful lately but the Braves are just the cure. He has a 3.08 ERA lifetime versus Atlanta and trust me, this lineup is worse than any Braves lineup he's seen previously. The Braves strike out 22.1% of the time versus LHP, fourth-worst in baseball. He's a great tourney play.

Jordan Zimmermann (SP, DET) vs Twins

FanDuel - $10,100 / DraftKings - $10,300

Zimmermann was on the wrong end of Max Scherzer's 20-K performance his last time out, but this will be his time to shine. He dominated the Twins in their last matchup (7 IP, 1 ER), while the Twins continue to be a bottom-five offense versus RHP. Strong cash play.

Max’s Value Plays of the Day

Adam Conley (SP, MIA) at Phillies

FanDuel - $8,300 / DraftKings - $8,200

Disregard Conley's last rough outing versus Milwaukee. The Phillies are a bottom-five offense versus LHP and Conley dominated them in 7.2 innings the last time they faced.  He's striking out over a batter per inning and is an excellent SP2 on DraftKings tonight.

Robbie Ray (SP, ARI) vs Yankees

FanDuel - $6,000 / DraftKings - $6,800

This is completely a tourney play. Ray has a 9.0 K/9 at home and the Yankees are bottom-five in HR versus LHP. With the Yankees travelling cross-country last night, I like the Diamondbacks to take game one of this series.

Starting Pitchers to Fade in Daily Fantasy Baseball

J.A. Happ (SP, TOR) vs Rays

FanDuel - $8,500 / DraftKings - $10,900

The Rays .272 average versus RHP is best in baseball and Drew Smyly is a formidable opponent. There's no reason to pay that price tag on DraftKings.

Yordano Ventura (SP, KC) vs Red Sox

FanDuel - $7,500 / DraftKings - $5,700

I see the strikeout potential, but have you been watching the Red Sox lately? I wouldn't throw him in my lineup even if you paid for the entry. (Totally kidding, Venmo me and I'll do it).
