LIV Golf Betting Picks - 2023 Miami

The LIV Golf League Match Play Championship is set to take place this weekend in Miami, Florida. The event will be held at Trump National Doral Golf Club, and it will be the first full team event of the LIV season. The competing teams will play for a total of $50 million, the winning team bringing home $16 million.

Trump National Doral Golf Club was founded in 1962 and is owned by the Trump Organization. The resort consists of four separate courses, the most notable is the Blue Monster Course which was designed by Dick Wilson. The Blue Monster Course hosted the WGC-Cadillac Championship from 2007-2016. This course also hosted the inaugural LIV Golf League Match Play Championship last season, which was won by the 4Aces.

The event will be played Friday-Sunday and will air on the CW Network in 100% of U.S. markets, as well as the CW App and LIV Golf Plus. Globally the event will be broadcasted in over 160 international territories Live and On-Demand, free of charge, via LIV Golf Plus.

LIV Golf Betting Selections - Miami

Fireballs +1100

The Fireballs have gotten hot (no pun intended) at the right time. The Fireballs took home the team title last week in Jeddah, shooting a combined score of -32. The win in Jeddah came off the heels of a second-place finish in the Chicago event two weeks prior. In each of the final two events, all four members of the team finished T18 or better. The team is as hot as anyone in the league heading to the finale in Miami.

It is important to note that while the team is hot, this is not an individual stroke play event until Sunday. That said, I would argue the Fireballs are actually more equipped for Friday and Saturday’s match play format than they are stroke play. A majority of their roster has a resounding amount of success in team match play format.

Captain Sergio Garcia is the all-time points leader in Ryder Cup history and is widely argued to be the greatest Ryder Cup player of all time in his team event history for team Europe. In the 2019 President’s Cup, Abraham Ancer earned a team leading 3.5 points for the Internationals, going 3-1-1 at the event. His only loss came in a singles match on Sunday to Tiger Woods. 23-year-old Eugenio Chacarra may appear inexperienced at first glance; however, he went 4-0-0 representing the International team at the 2021 Pamer Cup. While Carlos Ortiz has the least match play success, the Fireballs plan to pair him with fellow countryman Abraham Ancer in their team match for Friday and Saturday.

Both Sergio Garcia and Abraham Ancer have been on record saying how much they love the team aspect of LIV Golf. In the offseason, Abraham Ancer appeared on Draws N Fades Podcast and spoke about Garcia rallying the team and firing them up as captain. I expect this to be on full display this weekend in Miami. While Garcia’s Ryder Cup future is up in the air, he will have an opportunity to captain his own team to victory this weekend in Miami and I know he is not taking that lightly. I believe the Fireballs will shock the LIV Golf League and win as the 6-seed come Sunday.
