ANALYSIS: Miami Marlins first baseman Justin Bour has a .349 batting average over the last 30 days, clubbing 10 home runs and becoming one of the top waiver pickups. Bour has been particularly hot over the last 14 days, hitting seven home runs, and has 11 runs scored and 11 RBI over that time span. His batting average for the season has continued to climb as well, jumping from .248 to .285 over the last couple weeks, and he just hit his 13th home run of the season on Friday night. He is striking out a bit more this season, up from 17% in 2016 to 23% in 2017, but his aggression at the plate has lead to more power. Bour only hit 15 home runs in 90 games last season, but at this pace, he will reach that total by the middle of June.

Bour was a sleeper candidate to open the season once Don Mattingly announced he would stay in against lefties and Bour hasn't disappointed thus far. The Marlins have a strong middle of the lineup with Christian Yelich, Marcell Ozuna, and Giancarlo Stanton, so look for the slugger to get plenty of run producing opportunities. Bour should provide a power boost to any lineup and should be the number one waiver priority for owners that have seen injuries to their stud first baseman over the last few weeks.
