ANALYSIS: Carolina Panthers running back Jonathan Stewart ran for 103 yards and three touchdowns on Sunday against the Vikings and is one of the hottest names on the waiver wire. Stewart now has a touchdown in three consecutive games and is up to six rushing touchdowns this season on the ground and another one through the air. He has run for 100 yards or more in two of the last four games and has run for at least four yards per carry in three of his last four games.

A big reason for Stewart's emergence is the drop off in Christian McCaffrey, who has been held under 25 rushing yards in two of the last four games. McCaffrey had eight carries for 35 yards against the Vikings on Sunday, grabbing three of his four targets for 18 yards as well. He has 67 receptions this season, for 519 yards, and his impact in the passing game limits Stewart in PPR leagues, but may make Stewart fresher (and stronger) as a runner in all formats.

A matchup against the Packers, who are in the bottom-10 against running backs, is next on the schedule for Stewart, putting him a position to excel even while splitting plays with McCaffrey. In fact, the Panthers also play the Buccaneers in Week 16 (who allow the 8th-most points to RB), making Stewart a sneaky addition down the stretch. The presence of McCaffrey sees Stewart's stock drop a tick, but he still has RB2 upside for the remainder of the season.
