Telvin Smith has been one of the most impactful IDP linebackers for years now, but still does not garner the attention of a Luke Keuchley or Lavonte David. Since entering the league in 2014 as a fifth-rounder out of Florida State, he has been a versatile, rangy and productive 'backer for the Jaguars. Smith possesses elite speed at the position, enabling him to stay on the field for all three downs where he routinely racks up tackles (over 100 combined in each of his three first full seasons), and a knack for the big play (5.5 total sacks in that span, 4 INT and 3 fumbles forced and recovered each). Perhaps Smith's greatest quality above his Jaguars counterparts is his durability, playing in all 16 games twice out of his three full seasons, which included a 14-game campaign in 2015. While old reliable teammate Paul Posluszny continues to generate buzz despite his inability to stay on the field, and the young Myles Jack still unproven and an injury risk himself, Smith is the slam dunk Jaguars linebacker you want on draft day, and should be viewed as a LB1 regardless of the talent he is surrounded by.
