FFPC ADP Report: Stock Rising and Falling on Preseason Newsmakers

As we announced, RotoBaller is partnering with the FFPC to help bring their industry-leading games to all of our loyal RotoBaller readers. We'll be discussing the FFPC's awesome selection of games, and strategy and advice for those games, here at RotoBaller, on Twitter, and on SiriusXM throughout the Summer.

How should you react to some of the latest NFL news and updates that are stirring controversy and anxiety in the Fantasy Football world? Consider how high stakes players are handling these items. We take a look at how competitors in the Fantasy Football Players Championship (FFPC) are handling hot topics via the latest Average Draft Position Reports

Editor's Note: For a limited time, we are offering all new FFPC players a $25-off coupon for any contest! You can play a $35 contest or a $70 contest, we'll give you $25 off either one! Whether you want to play a Best Ball challenge, join a Dynasty Startup, or try FFPC's unique Terminator challenge (best ball spin-off), there's a $25 discount waiting for you! All you have to do is be a new FFPC customer, sign-up for any game on FFPC through one of the above links, and the $25 discount will be automatically applied to your account!

Latest FFPC ADP News-Related Trends

Latest on Luck: Andrew Luck’s latest issue is an ankle problem. As first outlined in this recent Injury Exam Room on RotoBaller, he was already in danger of missing the season opener before the ankle reports surfaced. His FFPC ADP has already started to drop, as he is now fourth overall at QB and that number should continue to fall quickly. T.Y. Hilton (10th at WR) and Marlon Mack (RB15) will tumble at their positions, too. I had already dropped Luck to fourth in my QB rankings when assembling the Exam Room report, and now he will likely be moved to back-end QB1 status. But Luck has not been ruled out for an extensive regular season period, and Jacoby Brissett is a capable backup. That could translate into possible value opportunities on Hilton and Mack.

Holdout RB Update: We checked in on the ADPs of Ezekiel Elliott and Melvin Gordon last week, and since then, Elliott has fallen one spot from No. 4 to 5 overall. Slowly, the high stakers are seemingly losing some patience with the situation. There seems to be much less tolerance for the Gordon holdout, as he has dropped from 24th to 29th overall, and one spot at RB to 15th. I say if you are going to avoid Gordon in a big way, do the same for Zeke. No one has any real idea about who will report first or when they will show up. That’s why I have Elliott ranked eighth at PPR RB right now and Gordon 12th. I have them in the same range.

Kansas City Committee Talk: Andy Reid’s recent comments about using a RB by committee have reverberated around the fantasy world. FFPC players dropped Williams out of RB1 territory, as he now has an ADP of 13th at RB. But Chiefs RB coach Deland McCullough clarified what a committee means to a coaching staff this week when he said Williams is still the unquestioned lead RB and the other backs will “supplement” him. Many fantasy players though committee meant “equal share” between two or more RBs. Not so. I would still consider Williams as a back-end RB1.

Montgomery Moves: The preseason debut of David Montgomery dazzled many and is boosting his stock. He has now moved inside the Top 20 at RB in the FFPC, with an ADP of 19. This may be a slight overreaction. Once play begins for real, I still say Mike Davis can cut into his workload and Chicago may exhibit a true committee look at RB. He is now going one spot ahead of Josh Jacobs, who is likely ticketed for much more field time.

Seahawk Talk: The reports out of Seattle indicating that Chris Carson may be used more in the passing game have started to lift his appeal. He is now the 21st RB being taken in the FFPC. Another report this week indicated he will get two-thirds of the RB carries for the Seahawks. But his violent style can often lead to injuries and missed time. Rashaad Penny is a threat to share even reps at any time to keep Carson from avoiding more injuries, and if Penny gets a chance to play extensively at any point in place of Carson, he could really shine. That would create quite the RB controversy and anxiety for Carson’s owners.

Later for Lamar: There was some temporary buzz about Lamar Miller’s stock rising when the Texans cut D’Onta Foreman. But the subsequent and quick addition of Duke Johnson has knocked Miller down to 29th at RB in the FFPC. That seems like smart drafting, as Johnson should get more field time than Foreman could ever muster, and Miller was nothing more than a flex play to begin with. Johnson is not gaining a lot of stand-alone momentum though, as he sits at 46th at RB.

Brown Down: The recent controversies surrounding Antonio Brown have taken their effect on his FFPC ADP, as he now sits at No. 11 at WR. Personally, I still have him in my Top 10. It’s not a big difference, but once play begins for real, I believe the only things that will matter is that Brown remains a durable superstar with unrelenting intensity and physical dedication that will keep him at a fantasy WR1 level.

Seeing the Rise of Samuel?: There have been glowing reports about Curtis Samuel this preseason, and the FFPC drafters have taken notice. Samuel is now on the verge of WR3 territory, being taken as WR38. He does have some big-play promise, but lingering concerns about Cam Newton have likely held him back from being drafted even higher.

Top 10 in the Cards?: Kyler Murray looked pretty good in Arizona’s preseason opener, even though he did not face a lot of pressure. The FFPC players have approved of him so far and like his upside. It’s no surprise aggressive high stakes drafters are valuing a potentially dynamic dual-threat as a quality fantasy starter. He is currently the ninth QB off the board in FFPC drafts, up one spot from when we last checked in before the preseason opener.
