Ian Happ - (2B/OF, CHC) – Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Add in All Leagues OWNED IN: 49% of Yahoo! Leagues   ANALYSIS: Ian Happ got off to a slow start in his first month in the big leagues, posting just a .741 OPS over 56 at-bats in the month of May. However, that number has jumped to nearly .900 for both June and July, which has forced the Cubs’ hand in making him an everyday player. The driving force behind Happ’s success has been his improved contact rate. In May, his strikeout rate was at a troubling 34.4%, however, that...continue reading

Paul DeJong (2B/3B/SS, STL) - Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues OWNED IN: 49% of Yahoo Leagues ANALYSIS: St. Louis Cardinals infielder Paul DeJong has eligibility all over the infield and his 11 extra-base hits in July have put him on the fantasy radar. Much like teammate Jedd Gyorko, DeJong gained fantasy value with positional flexibility and has hits in seven of his last 10 games, helping him to stay relevant. He has a .286 batting average in 56 July at-bats, hitting four home runs, driving in six batters, and scoring nine...continue reading

Ian Happ (2B/OF, CHC) - Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues OWNED IN: 50% Yahoo ANALYSIS: It's been a challenging season for the Cubs as they look to defend their title, but Ian Happ's emergence has been a bright spot. The latest impressive rookie on the North Side, Happ has hit .259/.324/.527 with 13 home runs and 64 R+RBI in 57 games this season. Over the last month, he's cut his strikeout rate by several percentage points, which has helped him post a .306 batting average during that time. He's also swiped three bags, albeit in six...continue reading

Paul DeJong (2B/3B/SS, STL) - Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues OWNED IN: 44% of Yahoo Leagues ANALYSIS: The Cardinals have found a gem in rookie Paul DeJong. It wasn't expected that they would need a new shortstop, but the dismissal of Jhonny Peralta and disappointing season of Aledmys Diaz has resulted in regular playing time for DeJong. He is slashing .302/.319/.576 with nine home runs and 20 RBI in 135 at-bats. He may not know how to take a walk (four in 38 games), but...continue reading

Ian Happ (2B/OF, CHC) - Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues OWNED IN: 50% of Yahoo Leagues ANALYSIS:  Chicago Cubs second baseman/outfielder Ian Happ has hits in eight of his last nine games and is quickly adding average to his power. Happ has 25 extra-base hits in 176 at-bats this season, leading to a .568 slugging percentage, and has seen his batting average go from .252 to .264 over the last 10 games. He has also stolen a base in two of his last five games, a surprise considering that he only stole one...continue reading

Eduardo Escobar (2B/3B/SS, MIN) - Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues OWNED IN: 7% of Yahoo Leagues ANALYSIS:  Minnesota Twins infielder Eduardo Escobar has a hit in eight of his last 10 games and is quickly becoming a fantasy asset. Escobar had a triple and two RBI on Friday, opening July 8-for-24 with a double, triple, and five runs scored after posting a .947 OPS in June. He has a .950 OPS against left-handed pitchers this season, making him a great option in DFS for when he is in the lineup against a lefty....continue reading

Jose Pirela (2B/OF, SD) - Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues OWNED IN: 7% of Yahoo Leagues ANALYSIS: The Padres have made it a habit of patching holes in their lineup out of necessity. They may have found a permanent solution to the left field problem with Jose Pirela. With Alex Dickerson ruled out for the year and Travis Jankowski on the shelf indefinitely, Pirela has been holding down LF and the leadoff spot in the lineup since early June. He started off ridiculously hot, picking...continue reading

Week 14 Waiver Wire - Second Base (2B) and Shortstop (SS)

Welcome to week 14 of the fantasy baseball season. We’re continuing our mission to find you the best and brightest players with second base and shortstop eligibility. As noted last week, the own percentage of players are beginning to settle in, so this list may begin to have a bit less turnover, allowing us to go back and focus on a few of the names we wrote about in-depth earlier this season. This week we’ll focus primarily on three new names because of two names in...continue reading

Brandon Phillips – (2B, ATL) – Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues OWNED IN: 35% of Yahoo Leagues ANALYSIS: Brandon Phillips has quietly been a solid four-category contributor this season despite being part of the poor Braves offense. He is on pace for 83 runs thanks in large part to his .295 batting average, 26 extra-base hits, and batting in the second spot in the Braves’ lineup for the majority of his at-bats. As for his other production, not much has changed in Phillips’ batting profile as he maintains a low fly-ball rate and low hard hit...continue reading

Tim Beckham – (1B, 2B, SS, TB) – Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues OWNED IN: 28% of Yahoo Leagues ANALYSIS: Tim Beckham has gotten hot in June as he has posted an .846 OPS with a .456 slugging percentage. His playing time was limited a bit in the month, as he missed five games due to knee and hand injuries and also exited Friday’s action against the Orioles early due to tweaking his ankle. Another potential concern is the Rays’ suddenly crowded infield situation due to their acquisition of Adeiny Hechavarria. However, Beckham’s playing...continue reading

Scooter Gennett (2B/3B/OF, CIN) - Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues OWNED IN: 54% of Yahoo Leagues ANALYSIS: Cincinnati Reds utility man Scooter Gennett had garnered attention with his four-home run game and has kept interest with his .302 batting average this month. Gennett has hits in eight of his last 10 games, including four multi-hit games, and has six extra-base hits over that time span as well. He is up to 12 home runs in 184 at-bats this season, a good haul for a middle infielder, and his eligibility all over the field makes...continue reading

Josh Harrison (2B/3B, PIT) – Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues OWNED IN: 50% of Yahoo Leagues ANALYSIS: Josh Harrison is posting a season that is strikingly similar to his breakout campaign in 2014, in which he posted 13 home runs, 18 stolen bases, and batted .315. While it’s overly simplistic to prorate stats, Harrison is currently on pace for both 19 home runs and stolen bases while hitting .294. While there are plenty of power hitters at both second and third base, speed isn’t plentiful at either position, which makes Harrison a valuable commodity. Given...continue reading

Jose Pirela (2B/OF, SD) - Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues OWNED IN: 11% of Yahoo Leagues ANALYSIS: San Diego Padres second baseman/outfielder Jose Pirela has a. 328 batting average in June and is becoming a nice option for fantasy owners. Pirela has five multi-hit games in his last 10 games and also stole two bases on June 21, a nice surprise for a player with four stolen bases in 74 career games. He has eight extra-base hits and 11 runs scored in June, registering a seven-game hitting streak from June 7-13 with six multi-hit...continue reading

Ian Happ (2B/OF, CHC) - Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues OWNED IN: 23% of Yahoo Leagues ANALYSIS:  Chicago Cubs second baseman/outfielder Ian Happ has 13 extra-base hits in June and is quickly becoming the next young slugger out of the Cubs' system. Happ now has a hit in nine of his last 10 games and a .926 OPS for the season. He has 20 extra-base hits in 122 at-bats this season, showing that he is an inexpensive source of power. His .254 batting average is still not great, but that kind of power...continue reading

Josh Harrison (2B / 3B, PIT) - Waiver Wire Pickups

Owned in: 53% of Fleaflicker Leagues Baller Move: Add in 12+ Team Leagues Analysis: Some things change in Pittsburgh, and Josh Harrison is not one of these things. Over the last four seasons of his MLB career with the Pittsburgh Pirates, Harrison has averaged a cumulative BA of .29. This year he has remained in stride with his consistent hitting with a slash line of .293/.366/.452. Harrison has seemingly upgraded his power game in 2017 as his isolated power figure of .158 and XBH% of 7.8% are his...continue reading

Jed Lowrie (2B, OAK) – Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues OWNED IN: 20% of Yahoo Leagues ANALYSIS: Jed Lowrie has had a lot of things working for him in 2017, including finally being healthy enough to stay on the field. Lowrie has flashed enough skill in the past, but over the past few seasons he has failed to log enough plate appearances to showcase it. As far as skills, Lowrie has bounced back to the high-end of his previous career norms with a hard contact rate of nearly 35%. Importantly, he has also paired...continue reading

Josh Harrison (2B/3B, PIT) - Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues OWNED IN: 48% of Yahoo! Leagues ANALYSIS: Josh Harrison has been red-hot at the plate as of late, hitting .351/.413/.474 over his last 14 games, raising his season slash line to a very respectable .303/.366/.468 with seven home runs and five stolen bases. Harrison has the highest walk rate of this career (5.2%) and has a .333 BABIP, not too far off of his .321 career number. Harrison is also hitting the ball hard (31.6%, up from 27.7% last year) and in the...continue reading

Whit Merrifield (2B/OF, KC) - Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues OWNED IN: 23% of Yahoo Leagues ANALYSIS: After posting a .283 batting average in 2016, there was little buzz around Kansas City Royals 2B Whit Merrifield, but that has changed during the last few weeks. Merrifield has a 1.201 OPS over the last 14 days, stealing three bases as well, and has a 17-game hitting streak that has made him a very viable fantasy option. The Royals have played Merrifield in both the oufield and second base, adding value to his fantasy profile...continue reading

Logan Forsythe (2B, LAD) - Waiver Wire Pickups

Baller Move: Add in 12+ Team Leagues Owned In: 40% of Fleaflicker Leagues Analysis: Since his recent return from the disabled list, Logan Forsythe has looked a bit more like his old self again. The Los Angeles Dodgers had to go without their second basemen from April 19th to May 23rd as Forsythe was sidelined with a right toe fracture. In 1,051 AB between 2015 and 2016 for the Rays, Forsythe totaled 37 HR and 15 SB. He has been a proven and reliable commodity for infield power and...continue reading

Chris Taylor (2B/SS/3B, LAD) - Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues OWNED IN: 34% of Yahoo Leagues ANALYSIS: Los Angeles Dodgers utility man Chris Taylor has a 1.021 OPS over the last 14 days and his potential for added positional eligibility makes him a great fantasy option. Moving the sample size back to the last 30 days, Taylor has scored 15 runs and knocked in 14, posting a .317 batting average, and has also walked 16 times. Taylor has basically played the same amount of games with the Dodgers this season as he did...continue reading

Devon Travis (2B, TOR) – Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues OWNED IN: 39% of Yahoo Leagues ANALYSIS: Devon Travis suffered through an April in which he posted just a .388 OPS. That rightfully buried him in fantasy owners’ minds, but it’s time to tune back in due to his current run in May. After hitting a grand slam in Friday’s action, he now has three home runs, 14 RBI, and 13 runs scored for the month. With both Troy Tulowitzki and Josh Donaldson returning to...continue reading

Adam Frazier (2B/OF, PIT) - Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues OWNED IN: 19% of Yahoo! leagues ANALYSIS: Adam Frazier won't hold down center field for the Pirates all season, but maybe he should. In two days filling in for a struggling Andrew McCutchen, Frazier hit three-run homers on consecutive days. He is now hitting a surprising .361 with a .961 OPS on the season. He's not a power hitter by any stretch, as the sudden power surge gives him a total of three homers and 16 RBI in 97 at-bats. He...continue reading

Brandon Drury (2B/3B/OF, ARI) – Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Add in 14-Team Leagues OWNED IN: 50% of Yahoo Leagues ANALYSIS: Brandon Drury is off to a great start to the 2017 season, slashing .309/.347/.496 with four home runs, 12 doubles and 16 runs batted in and runs scored, respectively. Drury's batting average has leaped up 27 points from last season thanks to a gaudy .382 BABIP. However, that mark is unsustainable, so fantasy owners should expect Drury's batting average to dip. His SwStrk% has increased from from 9.4% to 11% due to his O-Swing% augmenting from 32.2% to 34.6%...continue reading

Logan Forsythe (2B, LAD) - Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues OWNED IN: 40% of Yahoo Leagues ANALYSIS: Los Angeles Dodgers second baseman Logan Forsythe is expected to come off of the disabled list on Tuesday and will be a great addition to the Dodgers lineup.  Forsythe will also play third base with Justin Turner on the disabled list, allowing Chris Taylor and Chase Utley to stay in the lineup. He has played third 52 games in his career, so the position change...continue reading

Josh Harrison (2B, 3B, PIT) - Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues OWNED IN: 40% of Yahoo Leagues ANALYSIS: Josh Harrison has flashed surprising power in May, as he already has four home runs in the month and six total for the season. This has been due to a combination of an increased fly ball rate and increased hard hit rate, so his gains in the power department seem legitimate. Harrison has been extremely inefficient in efforts to steal bases, as he is just 2-for-5 on the season. It is a good sign that he continues...continue reading

Josh Harrison (2B/3B, PIT) - Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues OWNED IN: 45% of Yahoo Leagues ANALYSIS: Josh Harrison enjoyed a trip home this week to Cincinnati, hitting three home runs, and an injury to David Freese has helped get Harrison continued eligibility at 3B as well at the top of the Pirates' lineup. Harrison has absolutely owned left-handed pitchers this season, hitting three of his five home runs on the season and posting a 1.252 OPS in 30 at-bats, but only has a .688 OPS against right-handed pitchers...continue reading

Marwin Gonzalez (1B/2B/3B/SS/OF, HOU) - Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Add in All Leagues OWNED IN: 47% of Yahoo Leagues ANALYSIS: There is no player in baseball that is hotter over the last week than Marwin Gonzalez, as he has five home runs, 12 RBI, and a stolen base. On top of his strong performance, Gonzalez's eligibility at every position other than catcher makes him nearly indispensible when he is on a hot streak like this one. He is also a switch hitter, which is why he is matchup proof as of now (1.086 OPS against left-handed pitchers...continue reading

Hernan Perez (2B/SS/3B/OF, MIL) - Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues OWNED IN: 39% of Yahoo Leagues ANALYSIS: Adding players with eligibility at multiple positions and strong potential for power and speed is one of my favorite strategies and a player like Hernan Perez fits that mold perfectly. While he only has three home runs and two stolen bases this season, he had 13 home runs and 34 stolen bases last season. Most importantly for those that are looking at Perez, his batting average has actually gone up year over year (.272 in 2016 to...continue reading

Brandon Drury (2B, 3B, OF, ARI) – Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues OWNED IN: 45% of Leagues      ANALYSIS: Drury has created a new, and somewhat surprising, fantasy profile to this point in the 2017 season. His average is over .300 thanks to a .384 BABIP. While that is quite a high BABIP, Drury has sprayed the ball to all parts of the field more frequently and also has the benefit of calling Chase Field home. There are some troubling aspects of his profile, however, as his swinging strike rate has jumped from 9.4% last season to...continue reading

Brandon Phillips (2B, ATL) - Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues OWNED IN: 49% of Leagues ANALYSIS: Phillips had a few days off during the past week, but he’s still worthy of a roster spot, as proven by his continually increasing own percentage in Yahoo. In the previous week, Phillips had a solid week, hitting .357 with a homer and a steal in 28 at bats. Phillips is due for a bit of regression, but he’s still got rosterable talent even when that decline comes.

Joe Panik (2B, SF) - Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues OWNED IN: 21% of Leagues ANALYSIS: Panik continued his production last week and is hitting .301 (before Monday’s game) all of the sudden with his typical 12 HR/8 SB production. It was only two seasons ago that Panik hit .312 over a 100-game sample, and his line drive (25.9%) and hard hit ball rate (33.3%) are back at those 2015 levels again this year. The Giants have been struggling this season, but Panik has 12 runs and eight RBI, solid figures for a second baseman available in 79...continue reading

Brandon Drury (2B/3B/OF, ARI) - Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues OWNED IN: 43% of Leagues ANALYSIS: Reports before the season said that Brandon Drury had bulked up and his .372 OBP shows that the prospects for the 24-year-old are solid. Drury also has eligibility all around the diamond, critical for lineup construction on a daily basis, and he has hits in eight of his last nine games. In those contests, Drury is hitting .387 with a home run, two doubles, and five walks. His patience at the plate appears to have improved this season and...continue reading

Yangervis Solarte (2B/3B, SD) - Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues OWNED IN: 43% Fleaflicker ANALYSIS: In 2016, Yangervis Solarte posted an .808 OPS, while providing multi-position eligibility. He has a healthy .753 OPS to open the 2017 season with the same positional flexibility. He also has 16 RBI this season, including five this week, and he had a seven-game hitting streak snapped on Friday as well. Solarte has shown good plate discipline this season, walking seven times and posting a .351 OBP. He can fill the void at 2B or 3B and with...continue reading

Digging Deeper: Week 4 AL Waiver Wire Targets

Welcome back to Digging Deeper! I'll be taking a look at some deeper AL waiver wire options for Week 4 of the fantasy baseball season. As we round up the first month of the season, we are beginning to see which small sample sizes are real, and which players will bounce back from rough starts. Take a look at your waiver wire to see if any of the latter players are available. If your leaguemates cut bait too soon, you can capitalize on a rebound in May and beyond. Along with the normal...continue reading

Digging Deeper: Week 4 NL Waiver Wire Targets

Welcome back to our Week 4 edition of Digging Deeper, our weekly column where we will focus on deep league waiver wire options. My counterpart Tom Bellucco will be handling the American League while I focus on the National League. For those that have played in limited size leagues, you are well aware that at-bats and innings are the precious commodities. You are not going to find a top-100 player on the wire at any point this season. In fact, top-150 is a stretch. And as the year goes on, the options are going to...continue reading

Contact Rate Risers and Fallers: Week 4

Welcome back, RotoBallers! We now have a decent enough sample size in the early MLB season to look at some key offensive trends. Among those trends we will follow each week is contact rate. A sudden increase or decrease in contact rate could signal the beginning of an extended hot or cold streak. Each week we will look at a few players on each side and compare their previous week's contact rate with their actual performance. We do this because we care about you, the fantasy player. Top contact rate risers and...continue reading

Week 4 Waiver Wire - Second Base (2B) and Shortstop (SS)

We march along in April, as statistics move closer to being meaningful, but still aren’t quite there. We’re still early enough in the season that there are plenty of movers and shakers in the fantasy ranks. Players are being added and dropped left and right as fantasy owners try to catch lightning in a bottle/avoid missing out on the next big thing. As always, we have your middle infield targets for you here today, with three new middle infield waiver wire targets for Week 4 that can be...continue reading

Starlin Castro (2B, NYY) – Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues OWNED IN: 59% Fleaflicker   ANALYSIS: Castro has gotten off to a hot start to 2017 as he already has four home runs and has driven in 13 runs. The power isn’t a huge surprise given that Castro hit 21 last season. However, he has shown progress with his plate discipline in the early portion of the season. That has helped him drop his strikeout rate 13.6%, his lowest rate since 2011, and caused his walk rate to jump up to 6.1%. If he can keep that...continue reading

Brandon Phillips (2B, ATL) - Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues OWNED IN: 40% Fleaflicker ANALYSIS: Brandon Phillips has gotten his Braves career off to a solid start. The 35-year-old, who had spent his entire MLB career playing for teams based in Ohio before this season, is hitting .326/.371/.448 with a homer and four stolen bases. We've got a ways to go before batted ball types begin to stabilize, but with all the attention paid to the fly ball revolution, it's interesting to note that Phillips has gone in the opposite direction early on, hitting over...continue reading

Joe Panik (2B, SF) - Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Teams Leagues OWNED IN: 18% of Yahoo! Leagues ANALYSIS: Joe Panik was a popular pick in fantasy drafts a year ago thanks to two solid first years in the big leagues. He appeared in a total of 173 games between 2014 and 2015 and recorded a .309 average. However, those who took Panik last year were greatly disappointed, as he was slowed by a concussion and never seemed to turn things around. The second baseman played in 127 games and managed just a .239 average. Fortunately, those who...continue reading

Yangervis Solarte (2B/3B, SDP) - Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Add in All Leagues OWNED IN: 56% Fleaflicker ANALYSIS: Since the 2015 All-Star break, Yangervis Solarte has quietly been an excellent hitter. In 663 plate appearances – roughly the equivalent of a full season – he’s hit .297 with 21 home runs, 89 runs, and 89 RBI. He plays for a bad team in a pitcher’s park, but he hits in the middle of the order and is eligible at both second and third base. Solarte is off to a strong start in 2017, slashing .333/.364/.600 with a...continue reading

Chris Owings (2B/SS/OF, ARI) – Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues OWNED IN: 10% of Yahoo! Leagues ANALYSIS: It was unclear how much playing time Owings would get heading into 2017, but Ketel Marte’s Spring Training struggles and Nick Ahmed’s defense-only profile have cleared regular playing time for Owings. He will still be out of the lineup from time to time (see Friday night for example), but the Diamondbacks seem to want him in the lineup most nights. Owings has also helped his case for playing time with a hot start to the season,...continue reading

Hitter Streamers (Week 2): Head-to-Head Leagues

Welcome back to my hitting streamers column for Week 2, taking a look at hitters to add or stream off the waiver wire for this week's scheduled games. To keep things simple, I pick from players who are less than 50% owned and who play at least seven games in the week.  If someone jumps off the page at me as a less than seven game player, I may make an exception, but otherwise the advantage in number of games dictates my choices. With that said, let’s dive right in. Bats to Stream...continue reading

Yangervis Solarte (2B/3B, SD) – Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues OWNED IN: 23% of FleaFlicker Leagues ANALYSIS: Those who enjoy both DFS and season long fantasy know that the Padres will be a favorite team to stream against thanks to their terrible pitching staff. That has also led many to believe that their lineup is equally bad, which isn’t the case. While their lineup is far from the scariest in the league, there is some talent present and Solarte figures to bat third or fourth in the lineup throughout the season. Despite an injury-shortened season last year,...continue reading

Tyler Saladino (2B/SS/3B, CHW) - Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Add in Deep Mixed, AL-only Leagues OWNED IN: 13% Fleaflicker ANALYSIS: Tyler Saladino has picked up some sleeper hype during a torrid spring, but he remains lightly owned. The versatile 27-year-old hit .282 with eight homers and 11 steals in just 319 plate appearances a year ago. Given his minor league track record and Chicago’s rebuild, he's likely to run a bit more in 2017, and could see some time near the top of the batting order. Yoan Moncada is the future at second base, but Saladino...continue reading

Cesar Hernandez (2B, PHI) - Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Add in Deep Mixed, NL-only Leagues OWNED IN: 8% Fleaflicker ANALYSIS: Cesar Hernandez looked like a utility man when he broke into the majors in 2014, but he’s developed into a player with relevance in many fantasy formats. His plate discipline, contact rate and contact quality have steadily trended up in the last three years. He earned some criticism for mental lapses on the bases — note the ugly 17-for-30 success rate on stolen base attempts — but he also hit .294/.371/393 with quality defense to turn in...continue reading

Neil Walker (2B, NYM) - 2017 Fantasy Baseball Draft Sleepers & Values

BALLER MOVE: Target ~215 CURRENT ADP: ~253 ANALYSIS: Neil Walker should feel downright disrespected these days. Once considered a top 10 second baseman who won a Silver Slugger award in Pittsburgh, his value took a sharp downward turn after one season in New York. Not that Walker was that much less effective, but injuries limited him to 113 games and soured fantasy owners on the now 30-year-old. He still managed to launch 23 home runs, tying his career high from 2014, and posted the second best average of...continue reading

Raul Mondesi (2B, KC) - 2017 Fantasy Baseball Draft Sleepers & Values

BALLER MOVE: Draft Late in Deeper / AL-Only Formats CURRENT ADP: ~375 ANALYSIS: Kansas City Royals manager Ned Yost made it official on Monday when he announced that Raul Mondesi would be the starting second baseman for his team in the 2017 season. Mondesi has put together an impressive spring in which he has hit .367/.380/.612 with three home runs and four stolen bases. Could this be the beginning of a sleeper candidate at second base? If Mondesi is going to find success, he will have to make a drastic improvement from...continue reading
