Thursday features another 11 games in all with a spotlight on games like Vegas and Toronto, Nashville and Colorado, plus even Washington and Florida.
Remember, when looking around for plays, an over/under of 6 dictates offense, but an over/under of 5 or sometimes 5.5 tilts towards the goalies. There are several games at 6.5, as that has become the new norm in hockey now.
In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy hockey lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on 11/7/19. DFS Forwards to Consider
Nathan MacKinnon - C, COL vs NSH (FD - $8,600, DK - $7,500)
MacKinnon goes up against a porous Nashville defense when it comes to road games. The other good aspect is that MacKinnon averages over five shots per game over his last half-dozen contests (34 in all, 23 scoring chances). He has no points in his last two games but it is hard to keep this center of attention down for long. The 11-game slate helps on a night like this as the top Colorado line will be lower-owned than usual and due to injuries is cheaper as well.
Alex Ovechkin - W, WSH vs FLA (FD - $9,000, DK - $8,100)
The winger keeps going and has a great matchup against a Florida team that allows almost 3.5 goals per game at home. Ovechkin is still averaging nearly five shots a game and attempts almost eight shots a game on the net. The scoring chances will be there and Washington should have several chances on the man advantage. There are many options on this slate but one has to find a spot for Ovechkin in at least a few lineups.
Also, Consider:
- Sean Monahan, John Tavares, and even Jean-Gabriel Pageau/Nick Bonino could be viable plays on Tuesday night.
- Sebastian Aho, Matthew Tkachuk, and both Patrick and Evander Kane are also in plus-matchup situations on this large slate.
DFS Defenders to Consider
Michal Kempny - D, WSH vs FLA (FD - $3,900, DK - $5,200)
We are going in a bit of a different direction on Thursday night by focusing a little more on value here. One has to save somewhere and the blueline is a good place to start. Kempny saves lots of dollars, especially on FanDuel, and even a little on DraftKings. Overall, the defenseman has nine real-world points in eight games on the year. No one knows when the party will end so run with it while one can.
Sami Vatanen - D, NJD vs CGY (FD - $4,300, DK - $4,700)
Vatanen has four points in his last five games and provides a decent enough floor. His biggest asset may prove to be on the power play as New Jersey's has taken flight since Vatanen was switched to the top unit. The key is the defenseman's ability to keep his shot down and keep it as heavy as possible. That simply means Vatanen can fire the puck low and fast. That creates rebounds for guys like Taylor Hall, Wayne Simmonds, and others.
Also, Consider:
- Jeff Petry and Johnny Boychuk enjoy plus-matchups and are very reasonably priced due to category filling potential.
- Dougie Hamilton and Roman Josi/Ryan Ellis are great bets on Thursday night against porous defenses in New York and Colorado.
DFS Goalie to Consider
David Rittich - G, CGY vs NJ (FD - $8,700, DK - $8,300)
The thought process was to look at a goalie who faces a team that is on a bit of a road trip. New Jersey did not score much while generating 30-35 shots on Tuesday in Winnipeg. They could do this again. Rittich has won three straight contests and though he has allowed eight goals, one of those games was a 43-save shutout against the Columbus Blue Jackets. Overall, the Calgary goaltender has faced 116 shots and stopped 108 of them in the last week.
Also, Consider:
- The other good GPP choices on Thursday night include Darcy Kuemper and Jacob Markstrom. They carry a lot of risks but are not priced too badly.
