ANALYSIS: New York Jets running back Elijah McGuire scored on Sunday against the Saints, part of his 72 yard effort, and is becoming more of a part of the offense in New York. McGuire had four carries for 24 yards and three catches for 48 yards, including a 38-yard catch, and had multiple catches for the first time since Week 11. He has averaged 4.9 yards per touch this season on 96 touches and now has scored twice this season.

While McGuire had a solid game against New Orleans in Week 15, he only had one carry for -3 yards in Week 14 and only had 51 total yards in his previous three games. McGuire had the most receiving yards for the Jets on Sunday and was second in rushing yards, even though Bilal Powell and Matt Forte both had more carries than McGuire. The rookie McGuire has only topped 10 carries in five games this season, posting a career-high 14 carries in Week 10.

The Jets will face a Chargers' team in Week 16 that just allowed Kareem Hunt to post 206 total yards and ranks 18th against fantasy RB. While McGuire does not have the same prospectus in terms of workload (and is likely not as skilled as Hunt), there is a chance that he finds a way to at least get enough targets out of the backfield to make a difference. If you are stuck with injuries and are looking for RB depth, McGuire could be a very valuable punt play this week.
