BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues

OWNED IN: 28% of Yahoo Leagues

ANALYSIS: San Diego Padres pitcher Dinelson Lamet has won each of his two major league starts, striking out 16 batters over 10 innings against the Mets and Cubs. He has allowed two home runs in his 10 MLB innings, but his 2.70 ERA and 1.10 WHIP, including only three walks, show that he is ready for the big leagues. While it is over a small sample size, 36.4% hard hit ball is not good, but his 13.6% line drive percentage is a good sign for the future. A 50.5% ground ball percentage in Triple-A El Paso has dropped to 31.8% in the major leagues, but he has had a ground ball percentage in the mid-to-high 30s% in the minors since his debut in 2014. He has struck out more than 25% of batters at almost every minor league stop, so a K-rate around 25% could be expected in the majors as well.

Lamet came from nowhere to become a relevant fantasy target, so he should only be looked at in deeper leagues until he develops a bit more of a track record. His first matchup this week does not look good either, as he will face the Diamondbacks on June 6, but he is a better play against the Royals on June 11 to close Week 10. Make him a bench stash in leagues of 14 or more teams.
