Daily Fantasy NBA Lineup Picks For FanDuel (2/1/17) - DFS Basketball Advice

Good morning, Rotoballers, and welcome to our first February edition of NBA daily fantasy competition. We've got a completely loaded - and I don't use the term lightly (often, at least) - slate tonight with 12 games scheduled. Tip off for the Main competition, as usual, is at 7:00 EST - so get those lineups locked and loaded with one eye on Twitter to watch for news of late scratches and their replacements.

Before I get into my player selections and reasoning, let's gander at a few Vegas lines that could be of interest - especially for those of us looking to stack teams, or an entire matchup. From a projected point total standpoint (over/under lines), there isn't a ton that jumps off the page. The Clippers - Suns over/under of 220.5 is relatively attractive, as is the Timberwolves at Cavaliers (212.5) and the Pelicans at Pistons (210.5) - but not a whole lot worth targeting after that. From a pure matchup perspective, I do like the Pacers at Magic and Bulls at Thunder, as both games feature point spreads of three points or less.

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy basketball lineup picks for FanDuel on 2/1/17. The DFS lineup picks will range from some of the elite players to mid-priced options and value plays on FanDuel. Let's get to it, shall we?

FanDuel DFS Guards

Kyle Lowry - PG, at BOS ($8,700)

It would be an absolute crime to keep Lowry out of your lineup(s) tonight - especially for those of you in cash games. In DeMar Derozan's absence to the Raptors starting lineup (thanks to injury), Lowry has been completely crushing value, and his price hasn't caught up to his production just yet. In the last four games, he has produced no less than 44 FanDuel points and three times exceeded 49 points. Tonight, he's in an excelent position to keep putting up huge totals, as the Celtics like to push the ball - meaning more possessions and time with the rock in his hand for Lowry - and they also allow a +/- to opposing point guards of over three points a night. For the season, Lowry has a Usage rate just a tick over 25 and has been pretty efficient, too, putting up 1.02 fantasy points per minute.

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope - SG, vs NOP ($5,600)

For you cash game only contestants, this may not be the pick for you, but in tournament formats I really like taking a flier on KCP tonight. His fantasy production has been on a roller coaster ride recently, but when his point totals dip down low, it's not for a lack of opportunity. In his past three games, Caldwell-Pope has taken no less than 11 field goal attempts and the lone game of those three where he failed to hit value was due to a 2-for-11 from the field and zero free throws attempted type of night. What I like about KCP - in addition to his price and opportunity, of course - is that his opponent tonight (New Orleans) likes to push the ball and they aren't exactly defensive stalwarts. KCP and his Pistons teammates should see a dramatic increase in number of possessions.

Also Consider: Brandon Jennings - PG, at BKN ($5,600) and Yogi Ferrell - PG, vs PHI ($4,900)

FanDuel DFS Forwards

Andrew Wiggins - SF, at CLE ($7,500)

Yes, his price has gotten a bit steeper over the past 10 days, but have you seen his production? And how easily he's been hitting - and exceeding - his price implied value? I think Wiggins has a great opportunity to do more of the same this evening against a Cavaliers squad that allows a 2.02 +/- to opposing teams at the small forward position. Realistically, there isn't anyone on the Cavs roster than can stay in front of Wiggins, and he should have some easy lanes to the basket. For the season, Wiggins PER of 15+ leaves something to be desired, but here I'm looking for opportunity more than consistency, and his 26+ Usage rate spells opportunity.

Serge Ibaka - PF, vs IND ($5,600)

What I like most about Ibaka - on any given night, really - is that he always plays an incredibly high minute total and he has a great ability to stuff the stat sheet without being the focal point of the offense. Recently, though, Ibaka has been getting more looks at the basket, and it certainly gives his value an increase. This could be due to the fact that the Magic are shopping Ibaka, but he's averaged 13 shot attempts over his last two games and I see that trend continuing into this evening. He has a projected Usage rate just a tic under 20 for the night, which is particularly attractive at this price point.

Also Consider: Derrick Favors - PF, vs MIL ($4,700)

FanDuel DFS Centers

Myles Turner - C, at ORL ($6,800)

All things considered, I think Turner could be in for a huge night this evening. The second year center has been producing very well this season, and that production has risen over the past few weeks. In his last 10 games, Turner has exceeded value in six of them - including four of his teams' last four games. Relative to other centers - especially those in this price range - his season long Usage rate just a fraction under 20 is a pretty attractive one. What could be the most attractive about the opportunity to roster Turner tonight, though, is the fact that the Magic defend the paint horrendously. Of all the teams in action tonight, only one allows more points to opposing centers than the Orlando squad does.

Also Consider: Willy Hernangomez - C, at BKN ($4,300)
