Chris Kreider (C, NYR)

DraftKings - $6,600, FanDuel - $6,900, FantasyAces - $5,550

The Leafs have been hot lately but still rank 19th in defense while the Rangers rank second overall in offense. Target Kreider who skates on the top line with Derek Stepan and Mats Zuccarello. They have been the most productive line for the Rangers this season and Kreider has been red hot lately with 12 points in his last 10 games with 39 shots on goal.

Jonathan Drouin (W, TB)

DraftKings - $5,200, FanDuel - $6,500, FantasyAces - $5,250

Drouin has quickly become one of the Lightning's best players in the absence of Steven Stamkos. He sits tied for third in team points(29) and has recorded nine points(four on the powerplay) in his last 10 games. He has also provided a nice floor during that time with 27 shots on goal. His best value is on DraftKings tonight where his salary sits in the low $5K range.

Matt Dumba (D, MIN)

DraftKings - $4,300, FanDuel - $4,800, FantasyAces - $4,800

He comes as a terrific value under $5K on all sites and is on pace to put up career-best numbers in his fourth season. With six points in his last 10 games, he has brought his season total up to 20 points. He is also getting time on the powerplay and seeing over 20 minutes of ice time lately with Brodin out. He is safe in all formats.

Stacking Option

New York Islanders - John Tavares, Josh Bailey, Anders Lee

Despite sitting near the bottom of the Eastern Conference, the Islanders have the eighth-ranked offense and usually come with low ownership. They have also been hot lately scoring 13goalsin their last three games and get a gem of a matchup tonight. They are home favorites as the Stars come to town struggling on the road(7-12-4) with the 28th ranked defense.

Bonus: General NHL DFS Strategy Notes

For cash games, look at players who can contribute to your score even when they are not providing offense. Some examples are guys who take a ton of shots and defensemen who block a lot of shots. Also, look for guys who get power play time. You can find value in players who join a new line due to an injury, or just get a promotion and more ice time. It is also recommended to spread out your exposure to three or four different lines, and not put all your eggs in one basket.

For large field tournaments (GPPs), find payers who have multi-point upside and can grab double-digit fantasy points. If you want to stack the most upside in your forwards, a common strategy is to punt the defense position. This doesn't mean just grab anyone - try and look for a defenseman who will get power play time, or a playing time boost due to an injury. For a contrarian approach, paying up at the defense position can be a great strategy - but it also comes with more risk. GPPs bring a great opportunity for goaltenders in the value price range - you can look for backups on good teams.
