ANALYSIS: Los Angeles Chargers tight end Antonio Gates had a massive game against Jets on Sunday, grabbing six passes for 81 yards and a touchdown, and is a great addition for the last week of the season. Gates has a touchdown in back-to-back games now, bringing his season total to three, and his catches and receiving yards on Sunday were both season-highs. The 37-year-old only has 26 catches (on 46 targets) for 270 yards this season, but does have 15 first downs on his 26 catches.

The loss of Hunter Henry for the season has opened up all sorts of opportunities for Gates in the passing game and makes the future Hall of Fame player very interesting for fantasy purposes. Henry had 579 yards and four touchdowns for the Chargers this season, fourth on the team with 63 targets, and much of Henry's work will go to Gates. The fact that Gates led the team in receptions and yards against the Jets on Sunday, and was second on the team in targets with eight, shows that the team will continue to utilize his big body.

Gates and the Chargers will play the Raiders (who allow the 8th-most points to fantasy TE) to close the 2017 season. Gates only had one target against the Raiders earlier this season, getting a 16-yard catch, but Henry had five catches for 90 yards against Oakland in Week 6. If Gates can have similar success as Henry had against the Raiders earlier this season, he will easily be a TE1 for Week 17.
