BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 8% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: Alec Pierce is, simply put, going nowhere. It's only been five weeks (and four actual games for Pierce, who didn't play in Week 2) but the wideout has already commanded the second-most targets from QB Matt Ryan while appearing on 50% of all of the snaps played by the Colts offense with him in the gameday squad.
You tell me how a legitimate WR2 in his depth chart has as small a rostership as an eight-percent one. Of course, Pierce production is probably not that of a true-WR2-talent receiver. That's obvious, and that explains the wide availability.
Pierce, though, is averaging 9.1 FPPG having caught 15 of his 22 targets for 22 yards and no touchdowns yet. The last stat will definitely regress positively over the season. The yardage is as high as it can get because Pierce is averaging 12.6 YPR compared to WR1 Michael Pittman's 11.1. Pierce is, also, just 61 yards shy of Pittman's total receiving yardage having played 139 fewer snaps. You do the math.
The Colts have featured a weekly-improving Pierce for the whole season. He's gone from 0.0 PPR to 9.1, 12.0, and finally 15.1 last TNF. The targets have increased in past three weeks from five to six to nine. Same for the receptions and the yards going from 61 on three, 80 on four, and finally eight on 81. Can't get much better than that.
When Pierce starts grabbing touchdowns (again, it will happen at some point), he will be a must-roster-and-start player in every fantasy league. He's scored the most points among players with fewer than 155 snaps played without a single TD boosting their total FP tally.
Pierce is already a bargain and the best of all is that he can only improve his fantasy production from this point on.
