If you're looking to make a big splash on draft day, the one that comes with the ''ooh's'' and ''ahh's'', leaving other owners pounding the table because ''that was the guy they HAD to have'', then move on, because Alec Ogletree is not that player. To put it simply: he's a bit boring. He's the name most likely to be glanced over at the top of IDP rankings, maybe because he doesn't contribute much outside of strong tackle numbers, but also because he doesn't quite have the track record or name recognition of a Luke Kuechley or the upside of a Kwon Alexander. There's even a part of me that feels unsure about ranking him as a top-five LB. All of that said, there are some things to like about Ogletree heading into 2017. Though it feels like he's been around for a decade, he'll only be 25 years old at the start of the season, meaning he still has room to grow as a player. Outside of a season-ending injury in 2015, he's been quite durable throughout his four year career, playing a full 16 game slate in the other three. He's coming off a career high in tackles (136) last year, and will be moving inside this year to fill the fantasy-friendly role in new coordinator Wade Phillips' 3-4 front. I certainly have my reservations about Ogletree as a top level LB1, but if there was ever a season for him to really breakthrough, this could be it.
