Week 12 Wide Receiver (WR) Rankings Analysis

By Zach Wilkens (@LopsidedTrades)

With Brock Osweiler in at QB, we got a mixed result out of Demaryius Thomas. On the bright side, he got just his second touchdown of the season. On the downside he had just three catches for 59 yards. His three catches were the lowest total he has had in 13 games. He did still have eight targets, and ultimately I’m not too worried about him this week.

The Broncos led the entire game after DT’s 48 yard touchdown. As a result, they were very conservative, running the ball 33 times and heavily targeting their tight ends. That won’t happen against the Patriots. They will throw a lot, and Thomas will be more involved. That’s why he sticks in my top five this week.

Another wide receiver I like this week is Michael Crabtree. He is having a great year in Oakland, after mostly being a bust during his time in San Francisco. He currently sits at WR17 in standard scoring, and has seven straight games with at least four catches and 50 yards.

I like this matchup for both Crabtree and teammate Amari Cooper. I don’t see an extremely talented CB on the Titans that can match up with these guys. As a result, both are in my top 15 and should have really nice days.

I am wary of Martavis Bryant this week. Bryant has had two games with 130+ yards, three with under 50 yards, and nothing in between this season. He has also been saved by a touchdown in all but one game. The major inconsistency in yardage totals certainly concerns me.

Despite a crazy 13 touchdowns in 15 career games, I still think it’s really hard for any player to score in games where they don’t get a lot of yardage. The Seahawks may not be the complete shutdown defense they used to be, but they are still really really good. I intend to stay away from Bryant this week, but I’ll probably have him in my top 20 ROS.

The Arizona Cardinals wide receiver situation behind Larry Fitzgerald (who is in my top 5) is giving me headaches this week. Both John Brown and Michael Floyd were limited in practice on Thursday, and have bounced back and forth all season.

Floyd had seemingly grabbed the upper hand - but after sitting out in Week 11 while Brown had 43 yards and a touchdown, things are back to confusing. Unless Bruce Arians gives us a clear indication, I’d avoid either because it seems like there is a high chance of getting burned by the guy you go with. It’s an unfortunate situation, but it is what it is.
