NBA Playoffs DFS Lineup Picks & Sleepers – FanDuel Advice for 5/9/15

We have provided our daily picks throughout the year and we will continue to push hard during this second NBA season. Below are our favorite FanDuel DFS picks for Saturday, May 9th, 2015.

Keep in mind, fantasy basketball is a fickle game when it comes to injured players, so be sure to check all lineups prior to tip-off. If you want to chat about your roster picks, check out the DFS chat room at the bottom of this post.

Worth the FanDuel Investment

Klay Thompson (GSW, SG) $7300

Klay Thompson is always an excellent pick for your primary shooting guard slot. However, Thompson looks to be an even better pick than usual for Saturday’s slate of games given the amount of time he has had to rest. Coach Steve Kerr has also had plenty of time to adjust to the defensive skims of the Memphis Grizzlies. With these aspects in mind, Thompson should be completely prepared to round back into good offensive form for Game 3. That means we shouldn’t expect him to shoot weird one-footed three pointers or to miss wide open dunks.

Thompson is a much better player than he showed in Game 2 against the Grizzlies, and analysis of the tape showed that Thompson was consistently creating space from Tony Allen but the whole team was just not clicking and scoring off the opportunities. Thompson has played extremely well in the postseason, averaging 21.8 points, 3.3 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.0 blocks, and 0.8 steals. Given his rather low investment price as a star on a two game night, it would be difficult to argue leaving him off your FanDuel roster.

Honorable Mentions: Kyle Korver (ATL, SG), Stephen Curry (GSW, PG)

Zach Randolph (MEM, PF) $7300

The power forward position is interesting with Paul Millsap being the most expensive option and then Randolph and Draymond Green a step beneath Millsap’s investment price. However, the Fantasy Points Per Game count on all three of these guys are pretty close, so I would pick Randolph as the power forward that could provide you with the most value. Green struggles to guard Randolph on post-ups, and Randolph has capitalized with two 20 point performances as well as plenty of rebounds and assists to pad his stat line.

The Grizzlies will be playing at home for Game 3, so we should expect the pace to be slowed down more to Randolph’s liking and for him to continue to take a prominent role in the offense. This postseason, Randolph has averaged 15.7 points, 8.3 rebounds and 2.6 assists. He has done incredibly well against the Warriors, averaging 20.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 4.5 assists. Definitely look to slot Z-bo into your lineup somehow.

Honorable Mentions: DeMarre Carroll (ATL, SF), Draymond Green (GSW, PF)

Al Horford (ATL, C) $8000

The center position is extremely flexible depending on how you’ve spent your investments in the other positions. However, I would personally go with the middle of the road option in Al Horford due to his huge presence on the court for the Atlanta Hawks. Horford has really stepped up in the playoffs, and has provided the All Star numbers we’ve wanted to see from him. Along with Paul Millsap, the Hawks big men are completely outplaying the big men of the Washington Wizards. This postseason, Horford is averaging 15.1 points, 10.1 rebounds, 4.5 assists, 1.3 blocks, and 1.3 steals. He is simply everywhere on the court, and his numbers are a notch higher against the slower Marcin Gortat instead of the bigger Brook Lopez back in round one. Expect Horford to have another great game in Game 3, as the Hawks will look to take control of the series against the Wizards without John Wall.

Honorable Mentions: Marcin Gortat (WAS, C), Marc Gasol (MEM, C)

FanDuel Sleepers & Value Picks

Paul Pierce (WAS, SF) $4600

I’ve been waiting to use Paul Pierce as my sleeper pick. He is going to be playing in front of the Wizards home crowd, and the team will be missing All Star John Wall, so I fully expect Pierce to turn back the clock. He should absolutely dominate the ball and put on a show in a big game 3 against the Hawks. This postseason, Pierce has averaged 16.0 points, 3.5 rebounds, 0.8 assists, 0.5 blocks, and 0.5 steals. His assist numbers should only go up in Game 3 as the team will likely have to rely on him to have himself a nice game. His rather pedestrian 15 points in Game 2 might look measly but his production is more than worth the low investment price. Make sure to have him rostered at your small forward slot.

Honorable Mention: Ramon Sessions (WAS, PG)
