NBA Playoff DFS Lineup Picks & Sleepers – FanDuel Advice for 5/05/15

We have provided our daily picks throughout the year and we will continue to push hard during this second NBA season. Below are our favorite FanDuel DFS picks for Saturday May 5th, 2015.

Keep in mind, fantasy basketball is a fickle game when it comes to injured players, so be sure to check all lineups prior to tip-off. If you want to chat about your roster picks, check out the DFS chat room at the bottom of this post.

Worth the FanDuel Investment

Courtney Lee (MEM, SG) - $4100

Courtney Lee looks to be a great option in Tuesday’s slate of games. The Memphis Grizzlies are not known for their three point shooting but Lee provides some versatility for their team. The Grizzlies will need to be flexible in their offensive attack if they want to beat the Golden State Warriors. Sure, the Grizzlies would love to just dump it inside to Zach Randolph and Marc Gasol and have them work the post all game.

However, the Warriors are just too good of a team in both defense and pace to allow for that many post touches. Randolph and Gasol must pass the ball back out to Lee in Game 2 for the Grizzlies to even up the series. Even though Lee struggled in Game 1 against the Warriors, he scored at least 18 points in his last four games against Portland. For the postseason, Lee is averaging 15.8 points, 2.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 1.0 steals. At his investment price, Lee is a steal at the second shooting guard slot for his potential production.

Honorable Mention: John Wall (WAS, PG)

Paul Pierce (WAS, SF) - $4500

Paul Pierce just looks amazing in the playoffs. At times, Pierce struggled to produce throughout the season. As a result, his adjusted FanDuel price was rather low and is still quite low even now. However, this is playoff Pierce. This is the Truth. Pierce guided the Wizards and completely dominated the Raptors in a 4-0 sweep, and once again came out to play in Game 1 against the Hawks with a 19 point performance. Pierce is simply a different player in the playoffs, and you need to take advantage of that increased production at his low investment price.

I would much rather have Pierce in my small forward slot instead of the overpriced DeMarre Carroll. In the postseason, Pierce has averaged 16.2 points, 3.2 rebounds, 0.8 assists, 0.6 steals and 0.6 blocks. If the Wizards struggle to put up points against the Hawks down the stretch of Game 2, expect Pierce to take over and make a huge fantasy line for those who roster him.

Honorable Mentions: Draymond Green (GS, PF), Zach Randolph (MEM, PF)

Marc Gasol (MEM, C) - $8700

Marc Gasol is the most expensive center on Tuesday night, but he should be well worth the price. Al Horford and Marcin Gortat may both be cheaper options than Gasol, but Gasol’s production potential is just too much to turn down. Mike Conley looks to still be in too much pain to play and Nick Calathes is not doing a good enough job of setting up the Grizzlies offense. Marc Gasol needs to completely take over Game 2 if the Grizzlies want to stay in this series. He will need to outrebound Andrew Bogut and dish out assists to his teammates.

Essentially, Gasol needs to play point-Center, and will thus provide great production for as long as Conley is not in the lineup. In this postseason, Gasol has averaged 20.5 points, 9.2 rebounds, 4.7 assists, 2.0 blocks, and 0.8 steals. He is playing like the MVP candidate he proved himself to be earlier in the season, and should continue his great play on Tuesday.

Honorable Mentions: Marcin Gortat (WAS, C), Al Horford (ATL, C)

FanDuel Sleepers & Value Picks

Dennis Schroder (ATL, PG) - $4400

Dennis Schroder is definitely an intriguing sleeper pick for Tuesday’s slate of games. Anyone who watched Game 1 between the Hawks and Wizards would have noticed immediately that Jeff Teague simply cannot keep up with John Wall. Teague is too slow in the open court and in set pieces as well. As a result, Schroder saw a bump in playing time and in production against the Wizards because of his speed and tenacity.

Expect Atlanta to make many adjustments as they head into Game 2 against the Wizards. They will be desperate to avoid falling into a 0-2 hole at home, and will likely depend on Schroder to contain the opposing guard play of the Wizards. This postseason, Schroder is averaging 9.3 points and 3.4 assists. Expect him to play beyond expectations on Tuesday,

Honorable Mention: Drew Gooden (WAS, PF)
