We're getting into the nitty-gritty of the college basketball season now--the time of year that separates the contenders from the pretenders.

And, not surprisingly, we've seen some movement in our Top 10, just like in the AP and USA Today polls, even as we evaluate teams based on fantasy metrics.

Below are our CBB rankings for the week of February 10, 2016 (won-loss records are as of the time of this writing).

 

NCAA College Basketball (CBB) Rankings

1. Oklahoma, 19-3

The Sooners suffered a road loss last weekend at Kansas State (no shame there), but of bigger concern to us is that Norman is no longer stormin'. Scoring is down in Sooner-land, now that teams have clued in and are thus keying on OU's, er, "lone star" Bobby Hied (25.7 PPG). The Sooners stay tops for now, but that is likely to change, um, soon.

2. Villanova, 20-3

We've been bearish on 'Nova this season because, while the Wildcats do the little things to win in the bruising Big East, they lack fantasy firepower. However, they put up 80-plus points twice this week, and 70-plus against a tough Providence team. Plus, they keep winning.

3. Kansas, 19-4

Chalk up two more rockin' wins for the Jayhawks. Unlike their rival Sooners, KU continues to put up points, scoring 75-plus against three stout Big 12 opponents. Most notable was a 75-65 victory over Bob Huggins' "Press Virginia" defense and WVU.

4. Virginia, 19-4

If you like defense, then you'll like the Cavaliers. But we also like 'Hoov hot-hand Anthony Gill who can flat-out shoot the ball (58.4 percent FG%).

5. Iowa State, 17-6

The Cyclones have dropped in conventional polls after some tough losses, including a big "L" against West Virginia, but we still love their one-two punch of point guard Monte Morris (7.1 APG) and Georges Niang (19 PPG).

6. Maryland, 21-3

We don't "Fear the Turtle" all that much, but we have to begrudgingly reward success. Maryland keeps winning, even if that means piling on in-state "rival" Bowie State. They hung 93 on the D-II Bulldogs. Good thing strength-of-schedule is not a fantasy factor. Freshman center Diamond Stone (13 PPG) wins Name of the Week honors, and also fills a lot of columns on the scorecard.

7. Iowa, 19-4

The National Champions may ultimately reside in the Hawkeye State, although not necessarily in the form of the Hawkeyes. Senior forward Jarrod Uthoff can score (18.4 PPG), rebound (6.4 RPG) and block shots (2.9).

8. Monmouth, 20-5

Speaking of Hawks, our recognizing upstart mid-major Monmouth is long overdue. They have some Power Five scalps on their record this season, and they can score (81 PPG). Junior guard Justin Robinson is small (5-8), but he averages a healthy 20.3 PPG.

9. North Carolina, 19-4

We just can't punish the Tar Heels for two tough road losses in the ACC (at Louisville and Notre Dame), especially since from a fantasy perspective they get points from six players. And, as a team, they score A LOT--in a tough conference, no less.

10. Oregon, 20-4

Duck! At least when you're going to hole against the boys from Eugene. Senior forward Chris Boucher averages 3.4 blocks per contest while scoring a respectable 12.7 PPG
