NHL DFS Picks for Tuesday, December 15th
Welcome back for another night in daily fantasy hockey. Tonight we have a huge 11 game slate with a ton of options at every position. There are four teams (BUF, EDM, TB, CBJ) playing on back to back nights with two of them (EDM, CBJ) playing on the road.
A couple strategy notes. For cash game construction look for players who can contribute to your score when they are not providing offense. Examples are guys who take a ton of shots, defensemen who block a lot of shots(DraftKings). Also, look for guys who get powerplay time and especially Top 6 forwards.
For large field tournaments(GPP's) you want to find payers who have multi point upside and can grab double digit fantasy points. To stack the most upside in your forwards a common strategy is to punt the defense position. This doesn't mean just grab anyone. Try and look for a D man who will be playing more PP time or might get a boost in overall playing time due to an injury.
With that, let's dig in to find some core plays for Tuesday night.
Darcy Kuemper - Goaltender, Wild (DraftKings - $7,100 FanDuel - $7,500)
The backup for the Wild will be between the pipes on Tuesday and is coming off a shutout win on the road in San Jose. He has been a bit unlucky this year recording four overtime losses in six starts but owns a .920 save percentage. The Wild are favorites at home where they own a 10-3-1 record this year. Strong play in any format.
Claude Giroux- Center, Flyers (DraftKings - $6,700 FanDuel - $7,800)
He is one of the hottest players in the league recently with 15 points in his last 10 games. In that time he has also recorded five multi point efforts giving him great upside in a matchup vs. the Hurricanes. He gets the added bonus on FanDuel for penalty minutes(17 in last 10 games) and powerplay goals(2 in last 10 games) making him an elite option Tuesday night.
Patrick Kane - Winger, Blackhawks (DraftKings - $8,800 FanDuel - $8,300)
He is a must start every time out playing at an elite level we haven't seen in a long time. He extended his point streak to 26 games passing Sidney Crosby and now eyes Mats Sundin's mark of 30 straight all the way back in the 1992/93 season. He has increased his league leading point total to 46 and now faces the Avalanche who rank 23rd in goals allowed per game.
Jason Pominville - Winger, Wild (DraftKings - $5,200 FanDuel - $6,400)
After an awful start to the season has really turned it around with points in six of his last seven games. He has really benefited from the return of his teammate Zach Parise from injury. His salary is starting to climb but is still very affordable for the production he provides.
John Klingberg - Defense, Stars (DraftKings - $5,900 FanDuel - $6,500)
Has been up and down lately but still sits 2nd among defensemen in point with 30 on the season. He has played considerably better offensively at home with 18 points vs. 12 on the road in two more games. The Stars are big favorites in a matchup vs. the Blue Jackets who rank 25th in goals allowed per game.
