Daily Divide - Daily Fantasy Football Picks: NFL DFS Week 12

Daily Divide: Week 12

Nathan and Matt each offer their Week 12 cash game picks for every position, then the other insults or compliments those picks, as warranted. They hope their arguments and debates provide enough information to help people make their own decisions. After some thorough shower cries, Nathan and Matt are ready to dispense some DFS advice.

Nathan: Hakuna Matata. What a wonderful phrase.

Matt: Have we been fired yet? No? Okay let’s do this.

You can follow the titling Nathan Powell on twitter: @npowellff -- and the equally tilting Matt Rittle on twitter: @ffrittle.

Nathan’s Daily Fantasy Football Picks for Week 12

QB: Jameis Winston at IND
”Here goes Nathan point chasing a quarterback after a big game.” Wrong. Here goes Nathan playing a quarterback who has consistently lived up to value all season long. With Vincent Jackson back in his repertoire, Winston threw 5 touchdowns on Sunday. Will that happen again? Probably not, but it shows the positive impact the presence of Vincent Jackson has on the offense. One of the concerns with rookie quarterbacks is that they are often inconsistent, but that hasn’t been the case with Winston as he has scored 16+ points in every game this season, with 20+ points in 5 of those 10 games. Winston provides a high floor that most bargain bin quarterbacks do not.

Stacking: Mike Evans is a stacking option here, but with him likely being covered Vontae Davis, I am spending up toward Odell Beckham Jr where I am going for an expensive wide receiver.

Matt: His success and consistency has gone underrated this season for sure. Some sites still has his price pretty low which makes him a nice play this weekend.

RB: Adrian Peterson at ATL
With injuries and tough matchups for other top backs, I see Adrian Peterson as the best top tier option of the week. Peterson faces a Falcons defense that has allowed the 7th most fantasy points to running backs per FantasyPros. When the Vikings have positive game script, which I think they will have as they are only two point underdogs, Adrian Peterson gets plenty of carries and when you give Peterson plenty of carries against a bad run defense, you are going to see plenty of fantasy points. It is hard to find a safer option than Peterson for your cash games this week.

Matt: High usage and floor back with a great matchup.

WR: Eric Decker vs MIA
Eric Decker has scored a touchdown in 9 of the 11 games he has played this season. In the industry, that’s what we call #good. Decker is consistenly priced in the mid tier of wide receivers and he consistently pays off his price. This week he faces a Miami defense that has allowed the 12th most fantasy points to wide receivers. Essentially, where you are looking for a mid tier wide receiver, Eric Decker is your man as he provides the high floor of a player who produced his worst numbers of the year in week 1 with a very respectable 11.80 PPR points, along with the ceiling of 18+ PPR point in 4 of 9 games played this year.

Stacking: I don’t believe in Fitzmagic this week. There are just more attractive options to be had..

Matt: Volume and consistency, but hasn’t often shown a ceiling yet.

TE: Delanie Walker vs OAK
I'm not really a fan of any of the tight end values this week, so I'm just going to go with Mr. Dependable- Delanie walker. It also doesn’t hurt that he is playing a Raiders defense that has been a DFS target for tight ends all season as they have allowed the 3rd most PPR points to tight ends, and that is even with 2 0’s against Tyler Eifert and Eric Ebron. With Kendall Wright also back in the lineup, that should help take some of the defensive attention away from Walker.

Stacking: Mariota/Walker is a nice GPP stack, but I don’t really see Mariota as a cash game option this week.

Matt: You know I like this one, even sans the nice matchup..

Matt’s Daily Fantasy Football Picks for Week 12

QB: Brian Hoyer vs NOS
Brian Hoyer’s four finishes as a middling to low-end QB1 (with another finish as QB15) is especially impressive given he’s only started three and finished three games this year. Assuming he plays this weekend (concussion), Hoyer faces the ripest of possible fantasy matchups. The Saints have allowed four consecutive top four finishes to opposing fantasy QBs, including a QB1 performance to Kirk Cousins and a QB3 performance to Marcus Mariota. Granted the Saints had a bye week to possibly work on those woes, but playing at home, in a very plus matchup, with the success he’s had this year, Hoyer makes for a nice salary relief high floor QB option.

Stacking: DeAndre Hopkins makes a fantastic stacking option here.

Nathan: I’m a little weary of playing a quarterback the first game back after a concussion, but that may be a bit irrational...and he does have one of the most attractive matchups of the week.  I’d rather spend a little more on Jameis (see above), but this works too.

RB: TJ Yeldon vs SDC
TJ Yeldon has performed as a RB2 or better in seven of his nine starts this season. While those aren’t the numbers you’re looking for in a DFS RB, it may speak to a decent floor relative to his discounted price on most sites. This weekend Yeldon faces off against the 32nd ranked rush defense by both FootballOutsiders DVOA and raw fantasy points allowed. This is the same defense backup RB Spencer Ware scored over 27 fantasy points against last week in only 12 touches, and Yeldon hasn’t seen less than 16 touches going back to Week 4. With the mess that fantasy RBs have been the last couple weeks, this sort of pricing, volume, and matchup deserve our attention.

Nathan: This is a good one. Hadn’t really considered him before reading this, and now I am. So nice job. And I’ll be all up in your mentions if I play him and it doesn’t work to be honest, in my opinion.

WR: Julio Jones vs MIN
Hard to believe only ten games in, but Julio Jones already has six 100 yard receiving games (and three games over 160 yards!). Already with seven finishes as a top seven weekly fantasy WR, Julio has been the model of consistent stud production. I admit I may be overreacting to the last couple weeks of low scoring DFS contests, but I’m looking to take some known performance this weekend.)With a few capsaver plays I like this weekend, I might just pay up for some known high performing studs this weekend.

Stacking: Matt Ryan has been a lower floor play than in years past, with only one reliable target to throw to, but makes for a fine tourney stack.

Nathan: Julio is quite expensive this week and Matt Ryan has not been very good as of late, but that doesn’t seem to to be stopping Julio from putting up the points.

TE: Jordan Reed vs NYG
True to form, I’ll likely be playing Jordan Reed, Delanie Walker, or Gronk this weekend. With the Patriots missing several key players, I’m not looking to rely on the expensive Gronk until things are more clear there. Reed’s production has been down a bit of late, but figures to see plenty of targets against a defense that’s given up the second most points to opposing tight ends

Stacking: Kirk Cousins is only a cash game play when playing the Saints.

Nathan: Reed is a solid option this week, especially since his price has decreased a decent amount on a couple of sites.

Watch The Pricing, But We Also Like

Nathan likes: Eli Manning, Shaun Draughn, Javorius Allen, Martavis Bryant, Odell Beckham Jr, Larry Fitzgerald, Gary Barnidge

Matt likes: Carson Palmer, Doug Martin, LeSean McCoy, Odell Beckham, Larry Fitzgerald, Jordan Reed
