BALLER MOVE: Add in Deeper Leagues (that value saves)
ANALYSIS: Bryan Shaw, and not Cody Allen, may just be the new closer for the Indians, making him a waiver wire pickup to consider for leagues that value saves, and adding him to the list of recent saves sleepers. John Axford was removed from the role last week after struggling over his past few starts, and it was Shaw who picked up the first Cleveland save chance on Monday of last week while Allen was used as the setup man. Shaw has been awesome this year racking up a 1.37 ERA and 0.86 WHIP with 17 K over 19 2/3 IP, so he certainly has the stuff to run with the job. Allen could be given a shot at some point as well, and Axford could fix his issues to regain the role, but it's telling that Allen was used as a setup man for Shaw. Right now, I'm putting my money on Shaw getting being the closer in town, at least until he falters.
Update (after 5/18 game): Shaw's usage tonight in the 7th inning was questionable. The closer situation in Cleveland may still be fluid, and Cody Allen could be in the mix. It will be very interesting to see who gets the next save opportunity, stay tuned.Check out RotoBaller's entire 2016 fantasy baseball waiver wire pickups and sleepers list, updated daily!
